Ablockalypse

Ablockalypse is a semi-hardcore survival event, where if you die you become Infected and gain special mob-themed powers to hunt and kill remaining Survivors.  Survivors can use proximity chat to form alliances.

Recurring mechanics include airdrops and a shrinking border.  Ablockalypse Genesis also introduced mechanics called “Cursed Depths” and “Cursed Heights”, which meant players couldn’t spend too long at great heights or depths or else they would become Infected.

Players can join the server for a few hours on a fixed day once a week, for the duration of the season.

TRIVIA

  • Ablockalypse Genesis had ten Infected classes: Cow, Creeper, Enderman, Goatlin, Necromancer, Pufferfish, Specter, Warden, Witch, plus the secret Trickster class.
  • The Drowned was removed as an Infected class between the first and second season, due to the trident proving too powerful.
  • The Cow was added as a joke class in Genesis.  The Cow Infected’s only power was that it could moo on command.  It was also the only Infected class that could have unlimited Survivors playing as it at any one time.
  • The Trickster Infected class could only be obtained through a machine in the laboratory in Ablockalypse Genesis.  The machine would grant one player a second chance at being a Survivor if they became Infected, while the other player would instantly become a Trickster.  The Trickster appeared to be a Survivor, but was actually an Infected and would be revealed for a few seconds whenever they took damage.  The Trickster option was not available for selection upon ordinary Infected respawn.
  • Caprus Laboratories was so named because “caprus” is Latin for “goat”, referring to Wraith’s character.
  • Ablockalypse Genesis was playtested as Ablockalypse Pre-Genesis, an off-camera version of the Genesis series featuring sixteen players.  The series ended with an Infected sweep – nobody escaped via the helicopter.
  • There were three individual endings planned for Ablockalypse Genesis: one for the Infecteds, one for Survivors who didn’t make it to the helicopter, and one for Survivors who escaped.  No Survivors missed the helicopter, so only two endings were received.  These were broadcast as audio clips to their recipients at the end of the event.  None of the endings were a “good ending”, with even the “Escaped” ending leading to the Survivors being kept prisoner by the Caprus Corporation.
