WraithStation is a Minecraft studio running events and gameshows for content creators to participate in, including our regular shows, Bingo Museum and The Quiz LIVE, as well as a number of one-off events, and our journalism / press department Sphere News.  Most recently, we produced and ran The Minecraft Gauntlet, a stage show at TwitchCon EU watched live by a peak of around 9,000 viewers.

With us dedicating a lot of our time and resources to production, we haven’t had the capacity to maintain long-term community engagement.  To that end, we’re looking to bring someone onto the team to help grow our community and improve engagement outside of just project release windows.

The role will include:

• Starting conversations and engaging with players in our Discord
• Organising and hosting competitions, activities, and mini events for our Discord community
• Working with other team members to build opportunities for community engagement into all of the studio’s projects
• Helping prepare content (announcements, screenshots, graphics, videos etc.) to share with our community and a wider audience

You’re not expected to already have all the knowledge and skills for this role, as training can be provided, but you must be willing to learn.  Applications that show enthusiasm and potential, but lack relevant experience, will still be considered.

The ideal candidate:

• Is enthusiastic and proactive, and can get on with tasks, share new ideas, or jump into community conversations without prompting
• Is comfortable taking the lead on hosting community activities (with training), including Discord stages
• Is dedicated, and can commit to working on tasks for a few hours a week on average

The role is voluntary (unpaid) but comes with mentorship from a professional gaming community manager.  As well as learning new skills, you’ll get a chance to see your ideas come to life, meet lots of awesome people, and get the satisfaction of seeing your work make a real difference!  You’ll also get priority access for playing in our Bingo Museum: After Hours events.

Below are the current roles we’re looking for for the core team – although if you have other ideas for how you’d like to help, you’re welcome to put in an on-spec application for a role not mentioned. As these are longer-term positions, we look for people who are a good fit in terms of both skills and culture. RESEARCH:

• Find information through websites, social media, Discords, and video content.
• Write interview questions.
• Conduct verbal (Discord VC) and/or written (Google Docs) interviews.
• Create, request, or otherwise source images.

WRITING:

• Turn research material into engaging and informative written articles.

SOCIAL MEDIA:

• Write copy for quote retweets.
• Create original social media content.

IN-GAME PHOTOGRAPHY:

• Attend events and photoshoots as a Sphere News representative, to take screenshots using shaders.

If you don’t want (or aren’t accepted for) a core role, but would be interested in writing one-off or occasional articles, you can also use this form for applying as a guest writer.  We’re open to submissions of already-written articles (including those that have already been published elsewhere), or pitches for article ideas you’d like to write if they get approved.  That could be a news story, an opinion piece, a tutorial / educational article, or some other form of written content about Minecraft. We’re also open to discussions with the organisers of events and projects that are already producing long-form written content and would be interested in partnering with us to share it more widely.
