Sphere News
If you join our press branch Sphere News, you’ll be working with the Editor-in-Chief to produce a diverse programme of written content across a variety of Minecraft-related topics and formats. You’ll be able to choose your own topics and projects (with approval from the Editor-in-Chief), so whether you’re interested in quick-fire Breaking News to get the word out quickly, or more in-depth exclusive research such as interviews and surveys with more relaxed deadlines, you’re sure to get the opportunity to work on projects that match your interests and availability.
You can apply for any of the below roles through this application form.
- Research topics through existing sources such as websites, social media, Discords, and video content.
- Carry out exclusive research through your own enquiries, interviews, gameplay, or photoshoots.
- Compile your research, including links to your sources, ready for a Writer to take over.
- Work with the Editor-in-Chief in creating a compelling programme of written content that our readers will enjoy.
This role is often, though not always, done by the same person as the Writer role. If you would like to write your own articles after researching, please check the job description and requirements for both roles.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Aged 16+ (18+ preferred)
- Clear communication of ideas (you don’t need perfect grammar or spelling, but your research needs to be clear so that it’s not misinterpreted by a Writer)
- An eye for a good story (including an ability to pick out the most important or interesting information)
- Critical thinking and research skills
- Thoroughness, accuracy, and good attention to detail
- Ability to work to journalistic standards of honesty and integrity
